I am the assistant director of a nonprofit visual arts organization located in Cambridge, and part of my job is putting together exhibitions. Coordinating these collaborations is something I love and feel grateful in being able to do so. It’s a chance for a creative collaboration between art administrator and artists. And in the fall of 2014 three artists came together for an exhibition called, Times Travelers.
This show was as much a labor of love for three participating artists, as it was for me. Putting everything together (including the artists) just overwhelmed me with such art-pride. The show was one of my favorite exhibitions I’ve ever put together (and at this point in my career it’s over 100). The work consisting of found materials, books, type writers, clocks – you name it and these artists transformed it! Walking around the gallery and hearing the stories of each piece merged together nostalgia and craft harmoniously.
But the real icing on the cake – was having Boston Globe Art Critic Cate McQuaid write a review of the show. It was one of those ‘art arrival’ moments. Here is a glimpse of the show:
